Yeah, you can totally plant it in the fall. That'll give it a chance to grow new roots.

Of course, you can plant creeping thyme in the fall, but make sure it is in a position with full light and good drainage.
I haven't tried it, but several others have mentioned it can be planted in the spring, so it seems possible.
